Eva Jambrina Hernández, a member of CIESOL Environmental Analysis group, wins third prize for best poster at the 2026 CAI Conference

Researcher Eva Jambrina Hernández, a member of the Environmental Analysis Research Group at the Center for Solar Energy Research (CIESOL) and the Department of Chemistry and Physics at the University of Almería, was awarded the 3rder Prize for Best Poster at the 21st edition of the José Antonio García Domínguez Awards. The award was presented during the CAI 2026 conference (25th Scientific Meeting of the Spanish Society of Chromatography and Related Techniques —SECyTA), held July 21–24, 2026, at the University of Salamanca’s School of Pharmacy. The award was sponsored by the analytical firm Bruker and presented by SECyTA President Jordi Díaz Ferrero.

The work presented addresses the analytical study of the reaction mechanisms involved in solar-driven photodegradation using two important oxidizing agents: peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide. Using advanced analytical tools such as liquid chromatography and high-resolution mass spectrometry, the team from the Environmental Analysis group has successfully identified and characterized the degradation byproducts generated during the treatment. This knowledge is key to optimizing advanced oxidation processes for wastewater treatment.

The research reflects the close collaboration between researchers from the Environmental Analysis Group at CIESOL (a joint center of the University of Almería and CIEMAT), the Almería Solar Platform (PSA-CIEMAT), and independent researchers.
